Anyone who knows me knows I am an avid runner in addition to being an avid Disney fan. So it’s no surprise that I’ll be running in the 2017 Walt Disney World Marathon in Orlando this coming January.
I ran the 2013 Disney Princess Half Marathon a few years ago, and this will be my second runDisney experience.
I will admit, my experience with the Disney Princess Half Marathon back in 2013 was not the greatest, but I think that was more due to the IT band injury I sustained around mile 7 of the course.
Eight half marathons and two full marathons later, I am feeling really good about January’s race.
Currently I am averaging 30 miles a week running, plus extra walking for good measure. I am grateful that the Orlando course will be mostly flat, although in years past there have been portions that take runners up the on-ramp to the interstate, which does provide some elevation.
My husband and I will be staying at the All Star Sports Resort, because it is located near the ESPN Wide World of Sports, where the race expo will be. This will be our first stay at that particular resort, so stay tuned for a review.
As it is nearly three months out until race day, I am eager for Disney to post an official course map, so that I can get a sense of the route and know where my husband can go for good spectator ops.
Has anyone reading done the Disney World Marathon? What did you think?
